Atlantic Beach 2010

Okay, I thought that I would practice my movie making skills on the Atlantic Beach house so that I could put together a really good video tour of the house in the future. This video isn't very fancy, or high quality for that matter, if it weren't 12:30 in the morning right now, I would find Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime" to put as background music. So just go ahead and look the song up and play it on youtube while watching the video tour of the beach house.

Well shoot, I'm not sure why my video is not uploading... :( I'll work on it later. Goodnight.

'And I walked by the waters edge'

Hola all of you land and desert dwellers.

I am currently basking in the sun here at Atlantic Beach, North Carolina with the McGinty extended family. For two weeks we are staying in a beautiful (pink) three level beach house that 'Maemae' and grandpa Jim have rented out for their children and grandchildren to vacation in. When we want to go down to the beach, we literally just have to walk out the back door and down onto the sand. Not to make anyone jealous or anything....I sure wouldn't want anyone to break the 10th commandment over little old me.

We have already been here a week as of today and we will be leaving Sunday for Washington DC. I have had a great time here already and I am amazed that this last week has flown by so quickly considering we have not been doing much at all.

Let me give you a little idea of how the days typically go (keep in mind that I am well aware of how ridiculously spoiled I am right now):
8 am: wake up- 7 am if the boys have found their way into my room, particularly little Colin
9 am: watch the waves wash into shore and look for dolphins as I eat my breakfast
10 am: make my way down to the beach, go for a walk/ponder the meaning of life, call Rachel to discuss the meaning of life once I have discovered it
11-12 pm: find a nice chair by the rest of the gang and read a book
  1 pm: eat lunch
2 -5 pm: play with the boys in the water (they have been training hard to be ready for King Triton and our trip to the sea kingdom)
5-6 or 7: the boys have gone in to have dinner so I have time to read some more at the beach with the others
7 pm: enjoy a fabulous dinner of steak, shrimp, ribs etc. prepared by Kyle and Nina the glorious chefs of the trip. * Almost better than the delicious food is the entertainment, provided the McGinty family- complete with thick skin, eastern attitude, Brooklyn accents and a little alcohol.
8- 10 or 11 pm: the boys have gone to bed so all of the adults gather on the deck to visit (they drink wine, I have water). I visit with them for  a while and then I may read some more but most likely I will be sitting on the steps under a BEAUTIFUL nighttime sky and talking to family or catching up with friends over the phone.
11 pm: go to bed and get plenty of rest so that I will be physically and mentally prepared for the next gruelling day at the beach

And that's it! That is basically my life for two weeks with little variation like, a trip to the aquarium with the boys, kayaking with Jim, Michelle and Kyle, 4th of July fireworks, trips to the pool when the ocean gets old, minature golf/bumper boats and of course a day wouldn't be complete without keeping the boys in line in one way or another. Thankfully, grandpa Jim and 'Maemae' are very intimidating to the boys so one threat of punishment from either of those two and the boys decide to listen real well.

Well, imma be wrapping this up for tonight. More to come, including pictures!!

Goodnight fans of mine. :)
